How do I check the battery before bringing it in?
Hold Option and click the Apple menu › System Information › Power. The cycle count and condition are there. Anything reading "Service Recommended" or over about 1,000 cycles is due.
Is a swollen battery dangerous?
It needs handling carefully rather than panic. Stop charging it, keep the machine somewhere cool and open, and bring it in. Do not press on the case to flatten it.
How long will it take?
An Express repair is normally 1–5 days depending on the part. You are given a promised date when the quote is approved, and a countdown to it on your tracking page — if it slips, you see that before you have to ask.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
